U.S. teen raised money for Cambodian school children

Banteah Srey, Cambodia- Hundreds of Cambodian villager welcome the arrival of a new village school, a gift from an American teenager who helped raised $52,000 after reading about the hardship of living in Cambodia. Rachel Rosenthal, 17, made her first visit to the opening of the R.S. Rosenfeld school, which will bring 5 computers and Internet access to over 300 primary students in a small village in Siem Reap province. Siem Reap is a poverty stricken province which is home to the country's famous Ankor Wat temple. Rosenthal is a resident of Harrison, N.Y. said she read about the poor Cambodian children living in srah khvav in a news paper article. Much of the poor Cambodian children who live under harsh condition and have very little school education because they need to help find means of making money to support their family. Many Cambodian parents resort to selling their children into prostitution. Rosenthal set forth to help the Cambodian children by sending out hundreds of fundraising letters, sold T-shirts, and naming rights to many building structures in her school. The $52,000 she raised was supplemented by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, which contributed $10,000 and $13,000, respectively, said her mother, Lisa Rosenfeld.

It's great to see that the money actually reached its intended targets - those that needed it the most. Thankfully, it didn't end up in the back pockets of some corrupt politicians... Thanks for the uplifting post.

That is the truth! To many politicians are getting way to rich from the poor. Third world country desperately need our help. I'm so grateful there are still many inspiration people out there. Thanks for the pointer Texas_am!
